Grillados Raising Funds for Cancer Awareness & Support

A long-time local favorite for its finger-licking delights, the grilled food joint, recently made a bold move to go beyond simply serving savored dishes for the community. The newly formed joint decided to team up for a fundraising campaign for cancer awareness and care, showing that even the smallest businesses can make the biggest difference in the most pressing social issue. This initiative has brought the community together and, beyond this, inspired millions of others who turn their efforts toward a cause that affects millions across the globe.

The Story Behind the Campaign

The brainchild behind Grillados’ cancer fundraising drive had its origin in the personal experience shared by its founder, who witnessed one of the closest family members get consumed by cancer. With a personal touch, the team at Grillados, who had witnessed the families of cancer patients going through both emotional and economic hardships, decided to make the difference. With a penchant for grilling but a greater desire to fight cancer, they came up with a fundraiser of great impact.
The goal of their fund-raising was straightforward yet impactful: to make people aware about cancer, raise funds for its research and treatment, and help the local organizations working with such victims and their families.

Community-Focused Strategy

The success of the fundraiser by Grillados was based on the community in which it was held. It tapped the loyal customer base and the wider community when, through special events or themed meals and promotions, part of its proceeds was donated to relevant charities related to cancer.
Grillados instituted specific “Grilled for a Cause” days wherein they would allow customers to indulge in their favorite meals knowing that, with a percentage of every order going directly to funding cancer research. They even introduced limited edition menu items whose names were inspired by cancer warriors.
  • Cookout Events: Grillados organized cookouts on weekends, partnering with local organizations. They invited families, friends, and enthusiasts of good food to share delicious grilled foods, games, and contributions to the cause. In fact, these cookouts became a community celebration in themselves as there was live music, raffle draws, and heartfelt speeches from survivors and advocates of cancer.
  • Merchandise Sales: Grillados also came up with a line of special merchandise, such as t-shirts, caps, and aprons with motivational messages or inspiring quotes about fighting cancer. With every sale, the amount contributed to their fundraising goal, but the customer who wore them spread the message themselves.

Not only was Grillados’ cancer fundraiser a feel-good project, but it worked towards delivering actual results. In a matter of months, the campaign had mobilized thousands of dollars donated to reputable cancer research organizations and local cancer support groups. The money gathered will be used to advance many treatment options, help individuals fight the disease financially, and work towards making the prevention of cancer quite concrete and achievable.

Grillados' efforts

Grillados’ efforts also obviously touched the local community, where cancer survivors and their close relatives went and frequented the activities and shared their journey toward support. Because Grillados always seemed to send a message to people regarding the daily struggles of cancer patients, people began to understand much about the disease and even have preventive health measures or become advocates for the cause themselves.

How You Can Help

Grillados has shown that everyone, small or tall, is making a difference against cancer. Customers and community, as a consumer or a business owner, can do so many ways by:

Dine with a Cause: Go to Grillados for the special fundraising events they hold or simply order from their menu knowing that part of your order will go to a just cause.
Volunteer: Most cancer organizations use volunteers to help organize events, support patients and the cause, as well as promote the cause. Time is truly money.
